An Afternoon with Michael Challinger

Join the Mornington Auxiliary for a special fundraising luncheon in support of Peninsula Home Hospice.

Guest speaker Michael Challinger is a Melbourne criminal barrister, author and engaging storyteller whose career has taken him from Australian courtrooms to legal practice in London and Papua New Guinea. Describing himself as a “low-flying criminal barrister”, Michael brings warmth, humour and fascinating insight to the real stories behind the law.

Guests will enjoy a light luncheon and hear more about Michael’s book, Mostly Guilty: A Low-Flying Barrister’s Working Life, a witty collection of true courtroom stories offering a unique glimpse into Australia’s Magistrates’ Courts.

Opera meets Jazz meets Golf

Join us for a very special afternoon where Opera meets Jazz meets Golf — bringing together beautiful live music, delicious food, wine and good company, all in support of Peninsula Home Hospice.

Set in the Private Dining Room at The Dunes Golf Links & Links Lodge, the afternoon will feature performances by Ruth McIntosh, Heather Wilson and special guests, alongside finger food, a complimentary glass of wine and raffles throughout the event.

The event is being held in memory of Graeme Wilson, with funds raised helping Peninsula Home Hospice continue its important work supporting people and families within our local community.

Palliative care access a growing challenge

A recent article in Mornington Peninsula News highlights the growing demand for palliative care across the Mornington Peninsula, with Peninsula Home Hospice seeing referrals increase by around 27 per cent over the past four years.

In the article, our Acting CEO Julie Murphy discusses the pressures facing local palliative care services, the importance of earlier referrals, and the need for greater funding and awareness to ensure more people can access specialist support when they need it.

She also speaks to one of the biggest misconceptions about palliative care — that it is only about the final days of life. In reality, palliative care is about helping people live as well as possible with a life-limiting illness, while also supporting families and loved ones.
