The Sunrise Group is a bereavement support program that meets on the last Friday of every month from February to November. Counsellor Case Worker Anna and I feel very fortunate to support this friendly and compassionate group of people as they navigate the path of bereavement.
Aptly named, with a metaphorical meaning, for possibility and opportunity, the group was created as part of our bereavement support as a program to specifically help PHH clients, find connection and support after the loss of their partner.
Members can be part of the Sunrise group for 18 months and during this time we aim to help people feel less isolated, make new friends, gain new interests and support networks and reconnect with community.
The Sunrise Group has been going strong since 2011, and we feel so privileged to see the growth and resilience of our members over their time with us. Together we visit many wonderful places including beautiful gardens and local fooderies. Every November, we visit Cruden Farm in Langwarrin, the property of the late Dame Elisabeth Murdoch who was Patron for Peninsula Home Hospice. The group enjoy lunch by the Stables and a wander around the magnificent gardens.
